The Schoharie County ARC Residential Services Program offers a variety of residential alternatives in community based settings.
Family Care Program - For families seeking a smaller, more family-like environment, the Residential program offers a Family Care Program. This program is designed to support individuals in an existing family's home. Schoharie County ARC currently supports two Family Care Homes in Schoharie County. We are actively seeking new families to support individuals in their home. Please contact the Residential Services department for more information.
Supervised Individual Residential Alternatives (IRA) - Offers 24- hour support in a home environment. Residential habilitation services focus on the areas for example of activities of daily living, recreational networking, health and medication support, and financial management. Supervised IRA’s accommodate from 2-14 people, and sites are located across the county in Middleburg, Cobleskill, Richmondville, Carlisle, Lawyersville, and Schoharie.
Supported Individual Residential Alternative - offers a minimum of 2 hours of support per week to individuals or couples living in apartment settings. Staff provide support in developing community network of supports with a focus on independent living.
Community Based Residential Habilitation Services - These services are offered to individuals who live with their families or independently in the community. With an individualized approach, the services are provided by trained staff in a variety of areas including social skills, financial management, recreation, personal health care and independent living skills.
Free Standing Respite Center - provides individuals and families/care givers opportunities for weekend respite out of the home. The Center is located in the Village of Cobleskill and is open Friday afternoon through Monday morning. In addition to overnight accommodations, the Center provides individualized support with daily living skills, medication administration and recreation. The Center also offers weekday services during some holiday and school breaks.
Family Support Services - is a program designed to provide support to individuals with mental retardation/developmental disabilities, their families and caregivers. This program offers recreation, respite and support services.
Friendship Club - Is a recreation club for adults that meets 3 Thursday evenings a month from April through October. The program offers a variety of recreational and socialization activities in a community setting. Transportation can be arranged to and from the meeting site.
